We are pleased to announce that our beautiful home, "Puddin's Place" is fully licensed, staffed and accepting residents! Named in honor of our visionary and founder, Carolyn "Puddin" Van Every Foil, Puddin's Place will is a state-of-the-art, 6-bed family care home for adults with traumatic or acquired brain injuries. This home is designed for and staffed to handle the complex needs of individuals who need moderate to maximum assistance with their daily living needs (ADLs). Each resident will be encouraged to engage, interact and participate in the on-going activities of the Day Program. Each resident’s level of participation will be carefully designed to maximize their social interaction with and therapeutic benefit while at the same time being sensitive to their potentially higher level of assistance or special needs in daily living.
Puddin's Place is located on our Huntersville campus. The address is: 14645 Black Farms Rd. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list to be considered for potential residential placement, contact Pam Halter, MSN, RN, Residential Program Director at (704) 992 - 5762 Funding options currently accepted for Puddin’s Place include private pay, workers’ compensation, auto insurance and liability insurances. Costs for prescription and over-the-counter medications, medical supplies and equipment, doctor and therapy visits, and any other additional costs related to medical care are not included in each resident’s daily rate. During the night shift (between 11:00pm and 7:00am) there are no less than two awake staff at all times, providing a 3:1 resident to staff ratio. Each resident will have a spacious private room including a large walk-in closet. Every room is designed to have at least two large windows with a grand peaceful view of our 36-acre farm. Puddin’s Place seeks to provide our residents with a holistic environment that is structured to meet all of their physical, safety, intellectual, cognitive, and social needs. Our house was truly built to feel like a home down to the meticulous details of architecture and interior design. Some of our unique features and amenities include:
Family members are welcome at all times! Puddin’s Place does not have restricted visiting hours and was designed with our families in mind. Our activity building and outdoor patio is available for private family events and gatherings based on availability and when our Day Program is not in session. There is also a wide variety of hotels located nearby for guests visiting from out of town. While the health and wellness of our residents is so important to us at Puddin’s Place, we also want to be a support for the whole family. Our Family/Caregiver Support Group meets every other week here at our farm. In addition, individual counseling is extended to family members/caregivers by our master’s level counseling interns.
